All of society is at risk of experiencing and/or knowing someone who has experienced a violent or traumatic event. American lives are threatened while driving, shopping, at sports events, concerts and unfortunately at school for children and young adults in universities. The trauma is relived repeatedly. The child may experience nightmares and poor sleep, fear, negative emotions, irritability, and outbursts.
