Homosexuality, bisexuality, and transgender is not a mental illness. However, LGBTQ+ children as at high risk of experiencing bullying, rejection, violence, discrimination, and isolation. These factors can result in depression, anxiety, substance abuse and poor social and academic development. Many LGBTQ+ children are as risk for suicide. Parents must protect them and get professional help for them as needed. This population is growing annually.
